Selling Out Print Books
Over the last decade, I’ve brought four books to press: one offset, one digital, one letterpress by my own hand, and one letterpress by contract. Three of those are now sold out!
- Copies remain, though dwindling, of Six Centuries of Type & Printing (2020). I wrote and designed this book as part of the Tiny Type Museum & Time Capsule (2019–2020), which itself sold out in early 2022! Each museum included a slot designed to receive a copy of this book. I had an edition of about 400 printed and between the 100-plus museums and later sales, less than half remain. You can also purchase an ebook edition that contains its full bibliography, which didn’t fit into the print edition.
- The Magazine: The Book (2013) appeared in an offset edition of 1,500. Most were sold in a Kickstarter campaign. A few boxes lingered and the last flew off the shelves last month. You can download an expanded ebook for free or purchase the complete archives in ebook form.
- London Kerning (2018) sold out months ago. I had digitally printed just 300 initially and went back for another 300 based on demand. You can download the ebook version for free.
- Not To Put Too Fine a Point on It (2017–2018) was my artist-in-residence project at the School of Visual Concepts. (Its letterpress program has now spun off as the nonprofit Partners in Print.) Painstakingly printed by hand in an edition of 125 (the first 100 numbered) and hand bound by Jules Faye, it sold out yesterday. An expanded ebook version remains available for sale as well as a single letterpress-printed chapter, “CAPITAL CRIMES,” about shouty caps.
In the near future, you’ll hear about my next print book! Watch this space or sign up for my very low-volume announcement mailing list.
